Fear is the root of nearly every problem you face.

Think about it.

I’m in a relationship where I’m constantly fearing that I won’t be pretty enough for him.  I worry that he’ll betray me for another woman.  I withdraw.  I question him constantly.  I make accusations based on my perceptions.  I become controlling.  I push him away.

Fear.  In some instances, the fear of betrayal (resulting in withdrawn love and control) may actually cause him to essentially betray me for someone whose love is not based on fear.

How does our enemy rule?  By trickery.  By deception.  Notice that when satan snuck up upon Adam and Even in the forest, he didn’t do so as a fierce bear or a vicious lion.  He didn’t try to intimidate them with his size or might.  No, satan slithered upon them as a snake.  A small, slimy, sneaky snake.

Satan didn’t have power over Adam and Eve.  He wasn’t bigger than they were.  He wasn’t stronger than they were.  But he was crafty.  And if he could trick them into bowing down to him, he could have their authority.

For anyone who has been reading through these rather war-like posts, I sincerely thank you.  I do.  I really mean that.

When I write like I’ve been writing, I don’t mean to be harsh or condemning towards you or myself or anyone else, but rather towards the subtle and not-so-subtle attacks that try to permeate our lives every single day.

We’ve talked before about the only way to truly get complete and lasting victory, right?  And we’ve talked about how that direct route to victory doesn’t abide in a counselor or a sermon or a really good prophetic word or a New Year’s Resolution or good intentions or a ton of other “good” things, right?  Yes, I know we’ve come to the conclusion that the ONLY way to total and complete victory is God’s Word — the TRUTH — the Bible.  But…. what exactly does that mean?  Does it mean that we just crack open the Bible and start reading and, after a good long read of it, walk away totally victorious and free and happy and whole?  Well… not exactly.

This one has been huge for me in my life.  I have yet to meet a single person who has not, in some way, dealt with rejection.  But for many, rejection has been so deeply planted into their hearts that to rip the root out, would mean changing their entire identity and personality.  If that is you, my friend, you are in good company.
