Favorite Things
These are a few of my favorite things…
War movies.
They just…. unearth something deep within me. I can’t explain it. Oh, and I know Finger of God doesn’t really go with the other movies, but… I really like it. It’s a… ummm…. “different” kind of war movie.
Japanese Cherry Blossom anything.
My Sword.
I’ve had this one for like… 6 years now. It used to have a handy magnetic clasp that held the whole thing together, but it broke. Now it just hangs open for all the world to see… partly because the clasp’s gone and partly because I have so many “important” papers, pictures, etc. stashed in the back. Oh… and the binding’s broke, which enables the actual Bible part to separate entirely from the metal case. Poor old dilapidated thing…. but I love it! It’s seen me through A LOT.
The “To-Go” Version of My Sword.
Man, these Promises books have seen me through a lot. Especially the top one. Say I’m feeling really down in the dumps one day and need joy… I just whip open the section on joy and meditate on those scriptures until my mind’s renewed. God’s Word works EVERY time. I LOVE these things.
Antiques.
Golly, I don’t know what it is… but I love antiques. Mainly antique dishes, teacups, tea sets, etc. My Mom and I share this love/addiction/ambition. Neither of my sisters care much for antiques. Boy, are they ever missing out! But to be honest, I’m glad they don’t know how much they’re missing out…. because that means more for me! Selfish, I know. But honest, yes.
Here are some of my favorite books.
Do you want me to name them? I’ll try. Let’s start at the bottom. Your Best Life Now by Joel Osteen; Kissed the Girls and Made Them Cry by Lisa Bevere; When Heaven Invades Earth by Bill Johnson; Healing the Sick by T.L. Osborne; A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett; When God Writes Your Love Story by Eric and Leslie Ludy (Note: I’m putting that book in for When Dreams Comes True — which is really my favorite book by them. But.. I lent/gave my copy to some friends in New Zealand.. and I tried to order a used copy last week, but I ordered the wrong book!); Hadassah by Tommy Tenney; Captivating by John and Stasi Eldredge; The Father You’ve Been Waiting For by Mark Stibbe; Beauty for Ashes by Joyce Meyer; The Journals of Rachel Scott by Rachel Scott (of Columbine High School); Becoming the Woman of His Dreams by Sharon Jaynes; Speaking of Love by Fred and Anna Kendall; (Big old book on the side) The Scottish Chiefs by Jane Porter (I still haven’t read the whole thing, but I sure want to!); (Favorite Books Not Pictured) Always Enough by Heidi Baker (did I lend this to someone?); Sarah Palin: A New Kind of Leader by Joe Hilley; The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey; The Gresham Chronicles Series by Lawana Blackwell
Cooking/Baking.
This is something really new to me. Cooking/baking was never my forte. But, in honor of future husband, I decided to give it a try. And… I LOVE it. I don’t love how everything turns out, mind you, but I love the artistic/creative side of it. Pictured above is a slice of Tiramisu. It took me like five hours to make. And in the end, it was lacking…. something. But I gave myself an A for effort.
Shoes.
A little random, I know. But still. I like shoes. And what shoes I wear largely depends on my mood. Thus I had to plop four different pairs on my wicker hamper to show you. If I’m working, I pretty much always wear heels (though you’ll never see me in those heels… they’re too high and extremely uncomfortable… an eBay purchase gone wrong). If I feel glitzy, but don’t want to wear heels… I’ll pull out something the likes of those there silver shoes. During the Summer, I could live solely in flip flops or just go barefoot. And those big old brown slippers? They’re my best friend since winter hit. There actually my Mom’s, but since she got a new pair of slippers for Christmas, she hasn’t noticed them missing… hehe!
My Desk.
This is the place I write you from everyday (give or take a few messy dishes and/or clothing items piled atop my chair).
So there you have it…. a few of my favorite things.
Perhaps I’ll add to this from time to time.

…and me.
I LOVE that one by Joyce though! At Mercy it’s so well-read that they just call it ”The Little Purple Book”. Haha!
Haha, I’m just trying to lighten my mood a little. Hehe!
But I loveeeee this!
*I haven’t seen any of those movies, apart from ”Finger of God”. I hope you won’t dis-own me, Sis!
* I find it so funny that your favourite scent is Japanese Cherry Blossom, when mine is…Cherry Blossom! Haha! I even ordered a little special room-spray for my new room in Bexhill in Cherry Blossom. Sisters. For eternity.
* I have Bible JUST like that, only mine is black. I LOVE how tattered and well-loved yours is. I’m so honoured to have a best friend of the Word!
*I haven’t read those first two promise books. Who are they by? Maybe I should add them to my Amazon list
*I LOVED reading the list of your favourite books. Especially seeing half of the list are also MY favourites. Hey, didn’t you lend ”Always Enough” to Heather? Or did I just imagine that?
*I love your sparkley silver shoes! I would definitely buy shoes like that. I am actually far less cool though and have sparkley PINK shoes. Yes, I am secretly five years old still.
You are SO creative! Will you be mad if I copy you?!
I LOVED learning all this about you.
And it all fits so perfectly in my mind of who you are. Like, the antiques and how your desk looks and stuff. I am seriously jealous of your desk, by the way.
Can I come visit you?? Do you know how to find cheap plane tickets?? I would love to come. Seriously.
I loved the beaded shoes. And I’m jealous that you’re cool enough to walk in heels.
And I think it’s so cool that we both wear the same body spray.
