Firm Footing Required

There are two topics that people like to avoid: God and Politics. And if one of the two is brought up, the other is kept out of sight. Especially with politics. If you’re about to engage in a political discussion, one way to turn that grass fire into a bonfire is to pour God on the flame. Am I right? Welcome to the bonfire! In my opinion, there’s no such thing as a political discussion absent of God. There’s no truth apart from God; no clear right and wrong. If I’m going to have a political discussion, I’m not going to waste my breath on speculation and opinion. No, if I talk politics, I’m going to talk about what I know is true and right and just. Nothing else will stand the test of time. Only truth.

Stand Up For What’s Right

America has lost her footing.  I’m not ok with it.

This post isn’t going to be a sonnet on American-pride or a We’re Better than You Are chant.  No, this post will have the same theme as all the other posts on here: Truth.

America has only 4% of the world’s population and 6% of the world’s land mass, but make up 24% of the world’s economy.  While nations around the world gauge poverty at $1 per day, America gauges poverty at $22 per day.  Are these statements of pride?  No, they’re simply fruits of what happens when a nation — any nation — is founded on the Word of God.

Do You Have What it Takes? (Daniel pt. 2)

Considering the circumstances by which Daniel ended up in King Nebuchadnezzar’s palace, it’s remarkable the way he conducted himself even from the get-go.  Immediately after Daniel is taken from his noble family in Israel, given a new name (Belteshazzar) and ushered into the king’s palace, Daniel is already seen respecting those who most would consider his enemy.

Babylon (modern-day Iraq) has never been known as a God-fearing nation, and it certainly wasn’t in Daniel’s time.  After reading Daniel’s story in its entirety, that becomes crystal clear; but even at the very beginning, it’s visible.  Israel was a nation established by God for His people.  Babylon invaded, conquered and demolished that land, killing its people along the way.  Oh, and on the way out — they plundered God’s temple.  Even the most illiterate, uninformed God-fearing person would know better than to do that.

What it takes to stand before Kings (Daniel pt. 1)

Daniel had it rough.  We hear time after time about Daniel being thrown in the lion’s den and about his friends, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, getting tossed in the fiery furnace.  But personally, I don’t know if I’ve ever heard anyone teach about how Daniel became a servant in the King’s court.  Was it promotion?  Did he try out?  Was he interviewed?

Climate Change? part II

That was fun.  Thank you, Gabi, Emily and Rick, for sharing your wisdom.  I agree a lot with all three of you.

You [God] put us in charge of everything You made, giving us authority over all things — the sheep and the cattle and all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, and everything that swims the ocean currents. -Psalm 8:6-8 (NLT)

Like Gabi said, God made us stewards of this earth.  He didn’t make us equals with animals or water or trees or anything else.  Yesterday, I saw this video and it greatly disturbed me:

Climate Change?

I don’t believe in global warming and climate change anymore than I believe in aliens.  And though much of what I base that belief on is scientific facts, it’s the Biblical side of the equation that makes my hair stand up when I hear people, especially Christians, talk about the issue.  Somehow people, though they hate God and refuse to worship Him, are so in awe of His creation that they actually worship it.  But it’s not limited to non-Christians.  Christians do it too.  And that’s what disturbs me.

What America Really Needs: Common Sense

The condition of this great nation saddens me.

In Matthew 24:12, Jesus said that in the last days lawlessness would abound.  Lawlessness means: uncontrolled, unbridled, unruly, unrestrained, without regard to the law. Around September of last year, I became acutely aware of the lawlessness in this country.  Before then, I’m sure it was there.  It just wasn’t as visible.  But boy, when you bring politics into the picture, a lot of hidden stuff becomes blatantly clear.  Such was the case around September of last year.

A Battle Cry

First of all, I apologize for the new layout with the banner of a horse race.  It was not intentional at all.  Well, let me take that back.  I was so tired of my old layout that I went so far as to try to resurrect my original Word Press layout… but turns out, it didn’t remember what my old banner was.  So it was intentional.   But the horse race banner was not.

Now that I got that out, I can move on.

I’m praying for you, Barack Obama

God, give this man wisdom straight from You.  We come against the assignments of satan, the agendas of hell and we declare TRUTH over his mind, his heart, his will, his emotions.  God break what needs to be broken.  Shake what needs to be shaken.  Remove any veils of deception and the influence of lies.  Bring him out of alternate realities.  Bring him into YOUR reality — lead him into all truth.  Circumcise his heart.  Purify his intentions.  May he come to know Jesus Christ as his LORD and Savior, and may he bow to no one else — no man, no woman, no world leader, no politician, no evil or demonic influence.  May he rule justly and pass righteous laws.  Safeguard him from the company of corrupt and evil people.  Use him to lead this nation back to YOU, LORD.  Keep him safe.  Protect him.  Give your angels charge over him and his family.
